Puppy Potty Training - Using a Dog Training Bell to Prevent a Pet Accident

What Cat Health Food the best way to train a new puppy (or and old dog for that matter)? Well, all Dog Trainers have their own ideas of the methods that work best for avoiding a puppy accident. However, few would disagree that using a dog training bell is one of the best methods. Finally, what was once a nightmare that could drag on and on (and I can attest to this), has become a much more satisfying challenge. I can also attest to the fact that utilizing a dog training bell has resulted in much more pleasurable and satisfying experiences for my clients and me.

Eight years ago, when we brought home Painter, a Black Lab Mix, Home Dog Health Care a puppy (so named for "stepping in" and "helping" to paint our new house), we were not aware of the best way to stop him from having a puppy accident and we did not know how valuable a dog training bell would be. The result, at least one puppy accident almost every day of the week.

Well, since training Painter all those years ago, we, like many other dog trainers, have brought the use of the dog training bell into our regular training program and, in return, each puppy accident has become few and far between.

How do we use a dog training bell to avoid a puppy accident? Well, it just so happens that I have a recent experience to share with you.

Last year, Nala, a 12-week Golden Retriever became a permanent member of our family and, every single waking (and sleeping) moment of our lives. Having successfully used dog training bells with clients, I knew that potty training our new puppy, training her to avoid having a puppy accident, by ringing a dog training bell when she needed to relieve herself, was the most simple and best way to do the job.

I simply attached the dog training bell to the knob so it would hang down the door in front of Nala's nose. New to the house, and as a very young puppy, I would take Nala outside about once each hour to avoid a puppy accident and, to train her where the appropriate place was to relieve herself, I would soberly say "focus" (any word works as I Shop Online as it is used consistently) while NOT playing with her. We would then go in the house after a few minutes.

By opening the door to go outside, the dog training bell would ring (I would also show Nala the bell and say "outside" at the same time as I rang it). If she did not go potty after a few minutes, we would go back in the house in a "matter-of-fact" manner and try again the next hour.

When Nala would have the occasional puppy accident, we would immediately state the word "outside" (again, any word will work), go to the door, show Nala the dog training bell, and go outside to the appropriate "potty" area. This would help her to learn the process because dogs learn through repetition.

When Nala did appropriately relieve herself as trained, she would be rewarded with lots of love and a treat of nutritious popcorn. Popcorn is the only treat that our pets get because it is 100% natural, contains no unhealthy fats or fillers, is high in fiber, and simply because our pets love love it!

Nala learned to use her dog training bell after just a few days and she hasn't had a puppy accident for a very long time!

A note from Nala the Golden Retriever (the Dog with a Blog):

In reality, as we all really do know, I used the dog training bell to teach my human. Even humans know to come when they are called. They may never be smart enough to learn our complicated language however, they can easily be taught to come running when we ring a bell.

Embroidery and Laces

Embroidery is the art of decorating a fabric with thread and needle. Its origin is lost among the earliest historical peoples. Reproductions of needlework have been found on the statues and frescoes handed down Antique Furniture Guides us from antiquity, but embroidery as we know it was developed along with the other textiles in Italy during the sixteenth century. Being a work done entirely by hand, most of the embroideries used in interior decoration are antiques.

Petit Point and Gros Point (also known as Needlepoint) are the names given to embroidery in the old-fashioned cross stitch work done on a net. It is customarily called by the former name when the stitches number more than fourteen to the lineal inch, and the latter when Antique Signage less than that, although in petit point work there are usually twenty stitches to the inch, and in gros point there are eight. This delicate work popular in that era was very different in comparison to the rough construction that would come later in the future, involving amish fireplaces and wooden bar rails.

In gros point, the foundation threads are usually doubled, while in petit point they are single. The designs are done in wool thread and completely cover the net. Figures and conventional patterns were used, following closely the designs of the other fabrics of the period. Toward the end of the eighteenth century, it became the custom for children and young ladies to do this work, and they produced what became known as samplers. The designs were usually simple motifs, the alphabet, possibly some crude figures, and the name and age of the worker. Great numbers of them, of Colonial, English, and South American workmanship, are still to be found.

Petit point and gros point work are always found in small pieces, and are only used as furniture covers, screens, pillows, bell pulls, and in other small decorative ways. Applique work is the art of sewing onto a fabric as well as into it. Strips of different materials and colors are cut out in various patterns and applied to heavy silk or velvet. Sometimes padding is placed under these strips, giving a sort of relief effect to the design.

Applique work is used on furniture, napoleon fireplaces, curtains, bed spreads, and other similar articles. Couching stitch is the term used to describe the needlework most commonly known as embroidery. In this work, colored silk thread is sewn around other pieces of thread that are applied to the ground fabrics. The Chinese were probably the greatest exponents of this form of embroidery.

The principal relics from Renaissance Europe are found in the religious vestments of various types, such as chasubles, dalmatics and copes. The Bayeux Tapestry, which is no true tapestry at all, is the most famous embroidery in the world. It is a band of linen 230 feet long, embroidered in colored wools, showing various scenes of the Norman conquest of England. It is more interesting as an historic document than as a work of art.

Lace is open work made with a needle or bobbin, or by knitting, knotting, or crocheting. Real lace is the term given to the handmade product, but the general term lace includes the product of the loom. Lace originated in Italy, and the most important of the Italian laces were the reticella, which was a development of drawn and cut work, and filet, made on a net. Filet is also made in France and other countries.

In the Antique Tiffany Lamps twentieth century it was imitated by machine weaving, but the product was very inferior to that made by hand. French lace is a general term for all curtains of real lace, or lace panels sewed into a silk or linen ground. Nottingham lace is a general term for curtains made in one piece on a machine, Nottingham having been the first place in which work of this kind was done. In addition to curtains, laces are used as table covers, bed spreads, mounted on frames as screens, mantel runners, etc.

Hanging Drywall

Also called wallboard, gyproc, or plasterboard, it is used to cover interior walls and ceilings, and sometimes Conventional Roof Framing an underlay for ceramic tiles. Composed of gypsum (calcium sulfate dihydrate) sandwiched between two layers of kraft paper, it has a fire rating of approx. 30 minutes, and offers reasonable soundproofing, especially when installed in two layers.

Hanging drywall can be fairly heavy work, but not overly difficult to master. It ranges from 1/4" to 5/8" in thickness, with 1/2" being the most common in residential work. The sheets are normally 4 feet wide and 8, 10 or 12 feet long, conforming to standard measuring increments, such as framing studs placed at 16 or 24 inch intervals.

Standard drywall sheets have tapered long edges and the shorts ends are squared off. One face is rough, and one face is smooth, for painting and papering. Water resistant drywall also has tapered edges, and is used for kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms. Use cement-based backer board under tub surrounds or ceramics, in tub and shower areas. Some drywall comes pre-finished in different textures, colors and patterns, and some are vinyl-coated.

Wallboard (drywall) sheathing has tongue and groove edges, and is used under exterior claddings, including masonry to provide water and wind protection.

Wallboard sheathing and water-resistant drywall will both sag if used on ceilings - use standard drywall on ceilings, and cover with alkyd primer to water-proof the surface.

Drywall must be carefully measured and cut, before fastening to wood or metal studs, preferably with special drywall screws applied with a drywall gun or a drill, fixed with a drywall "dimpler" to properly counter-sink the screws. Use Type W screws for fastening to wood studs, Type G for fastening one sheet to another, and Type S for fastening sheets to metal studs. The joints are finished with joint compound (mud) and tape (paper or fibre mesh). Outside corners are covered with a metal corner (drywall "bead"). Rigid Polyurethane Foam T-square and utility knife are used for cutting, and a drywall knife (a smooth, broad spreader) is used for applying the compound.

To estimate quantities, add up the square footage to be covered, and divide by the number of square feet in a sheet (eg. 32 for a 4X8 sheet). One pound of nails or 1/2 pound of screws will fasten 200 square feet of drywall. Have a friend help you with the heavy sheets, especially when hanging a ceiling!

Drywall is easiest to install and finish if you hang it sideways, although if your ceiling is higher than 8'1" you might be tempted to hang the sheets vertically.

CAUTION

If hanging sheets vertically, you will be screwing very close to the tapered edge, and if the framing is not perfect, your vertical joints might be weak, or not line up at all!

Strategic Planning: The Act of Visioning in Business Building Demonstrates Great Leadership

Most people especially entrepreneurs or small business owners are so busy dealing with yesterday and today, they fail to plan for tomorrow. Being able to envision your future is the first step and one that is often overlooked and undervalued. The future vision for your business is necessary and essential to achieve not only small business success in building your business, but balance both personally and professionally.

The act of visioning is not easy. Wallace D. Wattles recognized the tremendous effort of Importance Of Leadership Skills Covey Leadership Center when he wrote:

"There is no labor from which most people shrink as they do from that of sustained and consecutive thought; it is the hardest work in the world."

Keeping sustained and consecutive thought is one of the greatest ongoing challenges especially when working through a disciplined strategic planning process.

Thoreau also perceived why we need to stop our own personal definitions of insanity and crystallize the vision for our lives when he penned these often quoted words:

"If one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours."

Vision is also necessary from a leadership perspective. In the book, Fail-Safe Leadership: Straight Talk About Correcting the Leadership Challenges In Your Organization by Linda Martin and Dr. David G. Mutchler, the authors from their years of working with organizations from small businesses to Fortune 500 firms believed that Vision is part of Level III alignment. The Vision is the first step in securing buy-in from everyone within the organization beginning at the Executive Level.

If the Executive Level Team doesn't know where it's going, how can the rest of the organization follow?

So take the time to crystallize YOUR vision for YOUR company. Again, this may change in a few years depending upon your industry and your business.

As the leader of your business whether you are a one person business, 10 person or 100 to 1,000 plus person company, remember your role as the Leader, President Of The Senate Pro Tempore to Warren G. Bennis, is:

Executive Coaching For Narcissistic Leaders & Lawyers - Lack of Empathy

Are you working in an organization where leaders model highly-tuned emotional intelligence and social intelligence? Do the leaders in your organization inspire others to create an exciting future full of possibilities? Does your company or law firm have a high performance leadership program developing emotionally Leadership Types And Qualities and socially intelligent leaders?

One of the most powerful questions one can ask is Do our organizational leaders have the interpersonal skills to demonstrate empathy? Empathetic and inspiring leaders excite followers with high levels of energy and hope for a better future.

Are you a leader who models an innovative and inspiring leadership style? Are you able to create a high performance workplace by creating a workplace where employees are fully engaged and leaders inspire people to innovate and accomplish important goals?

Lack of Empathy

Much has been written about emotional intelligence and the importance of empathy for business leaders. While they crave empathy from others, narcissistic leaders are not known for returning the favor. Bill Gates and Andy Grove demonstrate one can be charismatic and successful without empathy.

Neither Churchill, de Gaulle, Stalin, nor Mao Tse-tung were empathetic, but each had the capacity to lead others because they were great communicators. They inspired followers with their passion and convictions at times when people longed for certainty.

In radical times, a lack of empathy may actually facilitate change. A narcissist finds it easier than other personality types to buy and sell companies, close and Minority Leader Of The Us facilities, and lay off employees which are decisions that inevitably make many people angry and sad. But narcissistic leaders are typically able to carry on with no regrets.

This explains why narcissistic leaders score poorly on interpersonal-skills evaluations. Neither 360-degree evaluations nor listening workshops make them more empathic. They resist change as long as they are successful or have no reason to yield.

Street Smarts

But narcissists possess a kind of street-smart emotional intelligence. They are acutely aware of whether people are with them wholeheartedly. They know who they can use and can be brutally exploitative.

So, in spite of their star qualities, narcissistic leaders are often unlikable. They easily stir up people against them. But it is also true, in tumultuous times, that people are willing to tolerate narcissists as leaders when their gifts are desperately needed.

Working with a seasoned executive coach trained in emotional intelligence and incorporating leadership assessments such as the Bar-On EQ-i and CPI 260 can help you become an inspiring leader who displays the qualities of empathetic leadership. You can become a leader who models emotional intelligence and social intelligence, and who inspires people to become happily engaged with the strategy and vision of your company or law firm.

Leaders Must Be Exceedingly Careful, Cautious, and Responsible, When They Speak About Self-Esteem

I first Leadership And Motivation it in Kilsyth eleven years ago, when speaking to a youth group. I have heard it in the prison, and while sitting on Children's Panel hearings.

"I have low self-esteem." "Who told you that?" I asked. "My Social Worker," was the reply.

We have to be careful what we say to people. It can have a highly negative affect.

Leaders must aim to be positive, encouraging, seeking to build people up, of course without ignoring reality.

Moses sent out twelve spies to check out the Promised Land, and ten came back reporting that the inhabitants were like giants, and that we were like grasshoppers in our own eyes. The text of what actually happened and the report of their expedition can be found at Numbers Chapter 13 in the Old Testament.

Some would suggest these ten men had low self-esteem. Take the land? No, we cannot do that!

Had they forgotten the Passover, the Red Sea deliverance, the fresh water and manna, and the Ten Commandments, and the powerful leadership of Moses?

When people forget what Almighty God has done in the past, and start assessing current situations through their own eyes, it can appear bleak.

Two of the spies brought back samples of fruit from the Promised Land following their forty day expedition and they spoke very differently. "We can go up and take the land. We can do it."

Joshua and Caleb were positive. They seemed to know what God was doing and with the help of God they would accomplish this difficult task. They were proved right.

Low self-esteem did not cloud their vision nor diminish their ambition. Low self-esteem or even being told you have low self-esteem can do that to a person.

Joshua was Moses' faithful assistant, and succeeded to the leadership of the people, and Caleb followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly.

Joshua had been with Moses throughout the wilderness journey. He must have learned a lot during that informative apprenticeship.

It is said that low self-esteem is common among losers! These thoughts are anathema in the Kingdom of God.

Joshua proved to be an effective and successful leader. He sowed and he reaped.

What leaders say and do has greater impact than we sometimes realise and recognise.

This is rather difficult to do for most people and unless one learns to do it effectively, it may only make matters Leadership Development International China What really matters from the point of view of effective direction is that the leader provides the lead to the satisfaction of the led.

A manager must be very careful in his conduct in the presence of his subordinates. Every little act, gesture, expression and movement on his part is watched and interpreted by the subordinates in relation to their own work. In exercising leadership functions in his formal position, a manager must avoid all kinds of false impression formation on the part of his subordinates. He must strive to develop and maintain morale by evoking confidence and zeal.

The leader can win and maintain his subordinates confidence in him by establishing his superiority in knowledge and his ability to provide psychological support when needed. According to experts, leader should make use of orientation, which consists in providing the subordinate with the required information about his functions and its relationship with other functions, follow it up with training in managerial skills and continued supervision and provide his subordinates with job security assuming that he is efficient.

In addition, the other important function of managerial leadership is to create and sustain enthusiasm for organizational goals and activities. This is somewhat complicated. The manager exercising leadership in motivating his subordinates towards organizational goals should try to determine the conditions of factors in the organizational situation which prompt a subordinate to put in efforts beyond the acceptable minimum. The function of creating enthusiasm for the enterprise goals can be performed by the use of two techniques: inspiring subordinates and strengthening personal qualities.
